Is That Food Contaminated with Radiation? The World of Spirit

Nuclear power is the use of sustained nuclear fission to generate heat and do useful work, especially in generating electricity. However, in Japan, as you already know, three nuclear power plants were damaged by the recent 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Our problem now is the radiation being emitted from these damaged nuclear power plants.

Most parts of Japan are now affected, and the problem may even spread to nearby countries.

Now, we are receiving a number of emails asking about foods that have lower levels of radioactive contamination. Well, it is not that easy since it depends on the rate of radiation penetrated to the product.

Here are the names of foods that may have lower risk of being contaminated with nuclear radiation.

  • Tomato
  • Gourd (cucumber)
  • Onion
  • Paprika (Bell Pepper)
  • Garlic
  • Potatoes
  • Carrot
  • Apple
  • Pear
  • Apricot
  • Strawberry
  • Cherry
  • Oats
  • Wheat

Here are the names of foods that are at a higher risk of being contaminated with nuclear radiation.

  • Spinach
  • Onion leaves
  • Cabbage
  • Beans
  • Radish
  • Seaweeds
